Parbhani labourers to agitate for housing

Aurangabad: Labourers in rural parts of Parbhani will launch an agitation on September 25 demanding that the government provide housing facilities in proportion to their population. He said that the state government has earmarked only 11,778 houses for families of labourers in rural areas of Parbhani. Officials concerned should provide housing facilities to all beneficiaries. Whereas under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (rural) the government has earmarked a target of 1,33,992 houses in Amravati. They claim at least 1,40,000 houses should have been provided to them as the labour population in Parbhani accounts for more than 5 lakh.Rajan Kshirsagar, general secretary of Lalbavta Shetmajur Union, is spearheading the agitation..
