AMC to hold 2-day awareness campaign on heritage conservation

Aurangabad: The civic administration has organised a two-day campaign on September 21 and 22 to increase awareness and public participation on heritage conservation.The campaign has been organised with an aim to address heritage structures across the city which are in an abominable state. “The idea of this campaign is to develop a sense of pride among citizens about their heritage and thereby encourag punlic participation in the conservation,” said Vinayak.The campaign will begin with a rally undertaken by school children at 8am. I learnt about the rich heritage that the city holds after exploring and meeting historians,” said Vinayak.The municipal commissioner said that AMC had already undertaken cleaning works and installed lights at some of the gates ahead of the campaign inauguration. Patriotic songs, group dance and fancy dress presentation will be held in Hutatma Chowk at Kranti Chowk between 11am and 1pm.A signature campaign, poster exhibition and pledge for monument conservation will be undertaken between 3pm and 6pm. “When I first came to the city, I was asked by people to bring back the lost glory of the city which I could not understand..
