Doctors use pedal power to highlight importance of anaesthesia experts

Aurangabad: The Aurangabad branch of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA), the department of anaesthesiology at MGM Hospital and the Aurangabad District Cycling Association jointly organized a cycle rally on Tuesday morning to mark World Anaesthesia Day.As many as 80 doctors, students and other professionals peddled as a part of the rally. The people who participated in the rally had put up placards on their bikes and wore information cards about the same.Beginning from MGM Hospital, the route of the rally passed via Raj Petrol Pump on Jalna Road, Cidco Bus Stand, Harsul T Point, Hotel Vivanta by Taj hotel and the TV Centre before finally concluding at the MGM Sports Canteen. The rally was flagged off by the MGM Hospital CEO and deputy dean, Pravin Suryawanshi after the chief guest, senior anaesthesiologist Sadhna Kulkarni, cut the ribbon at 6.15am on Tuesday morning.The ISA state secretary Balaji Asegaonkar, ISA Aurangabad President Jyoti Tupkari, ISA Aurangabad branch secretary and head of the anaesthesia department at MGM Hospital, Vasanti Kelkar all participated in the event.The event was conducted by the Aurangabad District Cycling Association President Vijay Vyawahare along with Charanjeetsingh Sangha while Nagesh Jambure coordinated it.Vyawahare, a perfusionist, said that the rally was aimed at raising awareness about the role of anaesthesia as well as anaesthesiologists..
