"Besides GMIDC, the state has Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation, Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation, Tapi Irrigation Development Corporation and Konkan Irrigation Development Corporation for managing the major rivers passing through the state. Neera- Bhima stabilization project (Rs 4,800 crore), Painganga-Kundlik project (Rs 1,730 crore), Nandur- Madhameshwar project (Rs 894 crore) and right bank canal system of Lower Dudhna project (Rs 819 crore) were some of the key projects which were slated to get desired funding. The annual report, if published year-wise, could have reflected the progress of these crucial schemes. As per the annual report of 2013-14, a total of 78 projects having a collective irrigation capacity of nearly 7.97 lakh hectare were pending with GMIDC. I will seek details of the annual reports soon. "GMIDC has jurisdiction over Marathwada which has earned the distinction of a drought-prone region..
