City police launch mobile application

"The officer said that the Aurangabad city police have started dedicated pages at various social networking sites, including a channel on YouTube, page on Facebook, Instagram and several groups on WhatsApp. Aurangabad: The city police is all set to launch a mobile-based application to communicate with the residents.The application, Aurangabad Police News, will also serve as a source for official press release of the department.The application that has been developed under the aegis of police chief Yashasvi Yadav would be launched on Thursday.Talking to TOI, Yadav said, "Several police units across the state have developed their own mobile applications, but this one is unique, as we have connected it with several other social networking websites and applications. "We have designed the App in such a way that a single click would send all the news, messages and appeals to several thousands of followers on social networking sites and users of our application within no time," he said.The officer clarified that the application will not be used for two-way communication, but they will take cognisance of the feedback and inputs received through the pages and accounts on different social networking sites.In another pro-people move, the Aurangabad city police would start accepting complaints of vehicle thefts through their official website www.Aurangabadcitypolice.gov.inThe move is all set to save the victims of vehicle theft from making rounds of the police stations for recording their complaints.To bring in more transparency in the process of registering FIRs and issuing them to the complainants, the city police is all set to make all the FIR copies available on its website.The move by the city police would not only make the FIRs publicly available, but will also reduce the flow of visitors to the police station..
