Injured flamingo rescued, being treated

"Several migratory birds, including flamingos, have started their return journey towards Gujarat and Rajasthan among other parts, as water level in Jayakwadi has been increasing. The bird was found in a critical condition due to possible food poisoning.Located around 60 km from Aurangabad, Jayakwadi dam is home to around 234 species of resident and migratory birds. A bird expert was called in for help.Nitesh Jadhav, a certified snake-catcher, attended the rescue call made to environmentalist Kishor Pathak. Their habitat and food get affected due to the increase in water level and therefore these birds choose to return," Pathak said.A juvenile purple heron was rescued jointly by forest officials and Pathak at the Jayakwadi bird sanctuary on June 8.
