Aurangabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) has asked all divisional heads to accord due priority to facilities offered to people with disabilities on platforms and rail journeys.SCR general manager Vinod Kumar Yadav held a special review meeting through video conferencing with heads of six divisions, including Nanded, asked for finalising and sending necessary proposals within a stipulated period of time. During the meeting, they also decided to take up the matter on a priority basis.Yadav stressed upon the need for upgrading facilities such as circulating area, providing coach indication boards, extension of platforms, provision of water troughs, seating facilities and LED lighting provisions at all category stations, an official release read.Stressing that the proposals finalised the need to be evaluated and sent it to the railway board wherever an approval is required, the top-brass officials of SCR also emphasised on according more priority to the needs of passengers with disability.Meanwhile, the SCR has instructed divisional officials to eliminate all Un-Manned Level Crossings (UMLCs) gates by next year in the light of recent resolve by the newly appointed union railway minister Piyush Goyal.Speaking about safety, the general manager instructed the officials to intensify the field level checks, track maintenance work and address the related problems on a priority basis..
