Samiti demands survey for railway line

Aurangabad: Marathwada Railway Vikas Samiti on Thursday demanded that railway authorities should immediately start a survey for Solapur-Jalgaon new rail line that was announced in 2008-09. The rail line was proposed via Tuljapur, Osmanabad, Beed, Georai, Paithan, Aurangabad, Grushneshwar, Sillod and Ajanta.Omprakash Verma, samiti president, has alleged that the railway authorities are attempting to change the route and have failed to follow announcement made in 2008-09.Despite making a representation to railway authorities and the railway minister, Verma said, nothing subastantial has been done so far. I believe that this new line would help further grow tourist footfall in the region," he said.Verma said that while carrying out the survey, the railways have to follow engineering code of Indian railway. There has been no addition to the railway services in this region, since independence. He said he has also made representations to the chief minister, state government, the MLAs and MPs since 2008, drawing their attention toward railway requirements of the region, but to no avail..
