Yogi Adityanath assures good schools, hospitals to Moradabad brass artisans

MORADABAD: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said Moradabad brass artisans would soon have an artisans’ park with facilities of good school, hospital and residential colony. Besides, many artisans who cast (dhalai) brass are suffering from serious diseases like tuberculosis asthma , skin, etc, because of poisonous gases.”Meanwhile, the chief minister, who visited here on Sunday, praised national award winner artisan Dilshad Hussain for his hand crafted plates with a logo of Swachh Bharat mission.Hussain said, “This traditional craft is nearly 500 years old and artisans learn this craft from their ancestors who have been following this practice for generations.” The previous government had sanctioned 500 bigha near Jama Masjid bridge for the artisans here.During a meeting with the chief minister, an artisans’ delegation apprised him about challenges and crisis faced by them due to increase in the prices of brass and coal.“The industry is already reeling under the lack of basic infrastructure like electricity, water, health and sanitation, and impoverished condition of the artisans,” they told Yogi.Noman Mansoori, who led the delegation, said, “CM assured us that good school, hospital and residential colony will be constructed for the artisans in Moradabad soon.”Mansoori further said, “We also informed the chief minister that there is a threat to this traditional craft, and many artisans don’t want their children to pursue it, while many others have already left..
