Police book rice mill partners for pocketing farmers’ money

The mill belonged to Puranpur-based Satsai rice industries. PILIBHIT: An FIR was lodged on Tuesday against three people who were operating a rice mill here, for embezzling around Rs 2.50 crore. The money was meant to pay farmers for their wheat and paddy. They, however, did not make any payment to the farmers.The matter had first come to light when a group of 11 farmers from Puranpur tehsil circle recently filed a complaint in the matter to the district magistrate, Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, after which he ordered ADM, (finance and revenue), Braj Kishore, to start a probe in the matter. A written complaint in the matter was filed by a marketing inspector, Prabhat Kumar, on Tuesday evening.The move was taken after a designated official team, headed by the sub divisional magistrate of Puranpur, JPS Chauhan, raided the godown of the rice mill and recovered more than 6,000 bags of wheat and paddy on July 7..
