As many as 10 roadside eateries along with makeshift shops and counters were removed from Choupla crossing, Siklapur crossing, Kutubkhana, and Bisalpur crossing. Most of the removed shops, stalls were occupying road space and were a hindrance to traffic movement in these areas. However, as soon as the team started to raze the structures, a few local residents gathered on the spot and requested them to also act against unauthorised roadside vendors and shops. In May this year, the civic body had initiated action against encroachers in the city following complaints lodged by locals on CM’s portal.
