Bareilly: The national green tribunal (NGT) has issued notice to district magistrate VK Singh, the state government and central pollution control board (CPCB) seeking their replies on why no action has been taken against the district’s lone biomedical waste treatment plant at Parsakhera industrial area which has been running in violation of mandatory norms. This is the only plant operational in the district. Kumar had sought replies on five points about the plant’s operation, to which the CPCB replied, “The licence to operate the plant had expired on December 31, 2017. We will ask the district administration and Bareilly municipal corporation to make alternative arrangements if the plant has to stop its operations.”The matter came to light after lawyer Sanjay Kumar moved the green panel seeking closure of the plant. The industry has applied for a fresh authorisation.”On June 13, the UPPCB had rejected EMPL’s application for issuance of consent to operate the biomedical waste treatment facility, Kumar informed.The UPPCB had also said that the industry has failed to install ash disposal storage according to CPCB standards..
