Lakhimpur Kheri district on alert as Sharda river rises

SHAHJAHANPUR: All 37 villages falling within flood-prone areas of Palia subdivision in Lakhimpur Kheri district have been put on high alert after a significant rise in the water level of Sharda river , which is flowing above the danger mark of 153.62m. SDM Sudhakaran held meetings with senior members of the villages and shared information about the precaution they need to keep in order to avoid any tragedy during floods. We have closed the primary schools as a precautionary measure and once the situation is normal, they will be re-opened. On Monday evening, Palia sub-divisional magistrate Sunandu Sudhakaran visited eight ‘most sensitive’ villages and advised people there to be extremely careful, especially during the night..
