Workshop on how to make cellulose bags held for women SHGs

Bareilly: The administration on Friday held a workshop for women self-help groups (SHG) to make them aware and teach them how to increase their incomes by making and supplying cellulose bags , that are replacing banned plastic bags. At the workshop, there was a demonstration on how bags were made from cellulose sheets.The women showed a keen interest in the production of cellulose bags and said, “Sewing clothes and stitching cellulose bags are different things as different kinds of machines and material are required. The workshop was attended by over 600 women associated with different SHGs.Chief development officer (CDO) Satyendra Kumar said, “Since there is a blanket ban on plastic bags from October 2, biodegradable cellulose bags will be in high demand as it is the best alternative to plastic bags. It will help us greatly if the administration provides machines to all SHGs on subsidised rates or on installments. We will help them in establishing a direct link with their clients so that these women can make good profits,” the CDO said..
