Bareilly: An 18-year-old rape survivor on Wednesday tied knot with the man, Saddam (20), who had raped her on September 9 after their families reached a compromise following several rounds of kangaroo court held duringthe past three days. “The actual age will be clear after the medical report comes. We booked the accused under sections 378 (rape) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on Monday, and sent the girl for a medical examination on Tuesday.”SHO said in her complaint, the girl declared her age as 18 years. However, our investigation is on, and we will produce the girl before a court on Thursday to record her statement under section 164 (recording of confessions and statements) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).”“The accused is yet to be arrested,” SHO added. Police, however, said they would go ahead with their probe into the rape case.In her complaint to Nakhasa police, the rape survivor alleged that she was dragged and raped by the accused at a government anganwadi centre when she had gone out to dump garbage at a nearby dumping ground in a village under Nakhasa police station area in Sambhal district.Police said following her complaint, an FIR was FIR registered, and medical examination of the girl was being conducted to ascertain her age.Nakhasa station house officer inspector Ravindra Kumar told TOI, “The incident took place on Sunday, but the rape survivor reported the matter on Monday after their village panchayat failed to reach a decision..
