Summary:

Pilibhit: Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) authorities have set up two cages to trap two leopards which have been spotted in half a dozen villages on the Indo-Nepal border near Barahi range over the past one month. We are sure that the two leopards have strayed from Nepal’s jungle, barely 2km from Bundibhoor. The most recent killing was that of a bull at Maharajpur village in the early hours of Thursday.Forest officials at PTR believe that the leopards have strayed from Nepal. According to villagers, the leopards have so far killed more than a dozen livestock, including goats, heifers, and cows. The leopards take shelter at night in the adjacent forest and survive on domestic animals,” he said.“I was expecting the stray big cats to retreat to their permanent natural habitats but their repeated killings of domestic animals call for their immediate trapping,” Kumar said..
