Three duped of Rs 24 lakh each on pretext of jobs in Canada

Pilibhit: Three job recruiters here who allegedly duped three youths of Rs 24 lakh each on the pretext securing them employment in Canada were arrested on Saturday.According to police sources, the job agents took the youths to Bengaluru, saying that the flight to Canada would take off from there. Finally, they were flown to Bengaluru, where they were held hostage.The SP said two separate FIRs have been lodged — in Shahjahanpur and Pilibhit. Taramjot Singh is yet to be nabbed.A joint team of special weapons and tactics (SWAT) wing and surveillance cell of the district police was entrusted with the task of nabbing the cheats, the SP said. In both FIRs, the three cheats have been booked under IPC section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 364 (kidnapping with intension of murder), 392 (robbery), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 342 (wrongful confinement). Harpal Singh, Gurupal Singh and Karanjeet were arrested at 11.30 am from Assam road crossing on the outskirts of Pilibhit city when they were about to leave for another destination, he added.They confessed that they took Rs 24 lakh each from Simarjeet, a resident of Maujpur village under Shahjahanpur Kotwali police station, Randeep, a resident of Gajraula Khurd village and Gurpreet Singh of Piparia Karam village, both under Gajraula police station, the SP added.The job recruiters took the three youths to Delhi from where they were taken to Mumbai..
