Samajwadi Party protests against DIOS for failing to act against private schools charging excess fee

BAREILLY: Samajwadi Party workers on Thursday staged a protest outside the office of district inspector of schools ( DIOS ) as district-level committee constituted to identify private schools which are overcharging fees has failed to take action against any of them. On the order of the committee, all ICSE and CBSE schools in Bareilly district uploaded their fee structure for the academic session between 2015-16 and 2018-19 on their websites. With just three months left for the academic year to end, the burden on parents has been increasing as many reputed private schools are charging exorbitant fees.”Pramod Yadav, another SP worker, claimed, “In the past one year, officials in Bareilly have done nothing and are now making excuses. With just three months left for the current academic year to end, the SP leaders said the education department officials have failed to provide any relief to parents whose wards study in such private schools.Haider Ali, an SP worker, said, “The ordinance promulgated by UP government to regulate fees of private schools has turned out to be an eyewash. However, the committee did not identify or take action against the schools who were overcharging.The state government later dissolved this divisional-level committee and constituted another district-level committee in the last week of October.When the current academic session started in April, the helpline at the office of the DIOS had received more than 100 complaints from parents of educational institutions overcharging, thereby, violating the ordinance..
