BAREILLY: The health department on Wednesday said the surveillance drive to detect the deadly plasmodium falciparum (PF) and plasmodium vivax (PV) malaria cases has been stopped in view of less number of cases being reported.But the people have been advised to get tested at the health centres, the officials said.The department had last detected 10 PF and 2 PV cases on December 5. However, we are still continuing larvicidal spraying and indoor spraying to contain mosquito-breeding,” Dr Vineet Shukla, chief medical superintendent, said,“Anyone diagnosed with PF and PV cases in the last three months have been cured. In the last three months, 14,121 cases of PF and 19,697 cases of PV were reported from the district.“We have stopped active surveillance, but the people are being advised to visit community and primary health centres to get themselves checked for PF and PV diseases. The study report is awaited.”Following the outbreak of malaria in the district, a medical camp was held manned by a team of doctors to conduct rapid diagnostic test (RDT)..
