BAREILLY: Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress has fielded former MP Pravin Singh Aron from Bareilly Aron had become first-time MP in 2009 after he had defeated BJP’s Santosh Gangwar who is currently sitting MP from Bareilly and Union minister of state for labour and employment. In 2009, cricketer-turned-politician Mohammad Azharuddin had won Moradabad seat on a Congress ticket after 25 years. Gangwar was an MP from 1989 onwards for six consecutive terms, but he faced defeat in 2009 when Aron won with a margin of 9,338 votes. However, Aron lost to Gangwar who secured 5.18 lakh votes in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
