Varun fought from Pilibhit in 2009 Lok Sabha elections and won with 2.8 lakh margin of votes.According to his affidavit, Varun Gandhi has declared assets worth Rs 32.55 crore (market value) while his wife Yamini Roy Chowdhury’s wealth is valued at Rs 1 crore.He has Rs 40,000 in cash while his wife has Rs 3,000. According to the income tax return filed by him for the financial year 2017-18, Varun Gandhi’s annual income is Rs 49.32 lakh.Varun Gandhi also has liabilities to the tune of Rs 2.17 crore and Rs 6.98 lakh under the HUF.Taking to media, Varun Gandhi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, “The Prime Minister served the country altruistically and strived for all-round progress and development of the nation to enable it to emerge as the ‘Vishwa Guru’ (global pioneer) now.”.
