Man, 50, killed in retaliation to murder he committed 20 years ago

The victim’s brother, however, suspects that the murder is retaliation of the 20-year-old murder incident.” Pilibhit: A 50-year-old farmer, Moti Ram, of Husain Nagar village under Jahanabad police station was allegedly shot dead by five people on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.His body was found dumped near the Bareilly-Hardwar national highway between Nisara and Sardarnagar villages on Tuesday morning by locals.According to police sources, Moti Ram had left home for Lucknow around 7pm on Monday, but he was found murdered on Tuesday morning.Police suspected that the murder was retaliation to the killing of a man 20 years ago allegedly by Moti Ram and his accomplices.The body was sent for autopsy.In the meantime, senior police officials, including superintendent of police Kalanidhi Naithani and ASP Rohit Mishra, inspected the spot.Following the complaint of the victim’s brother Chhote Lal to Jahanabad police, an FIR was registered under section 147 (rioting) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against five people of the same village, who are relatives of the victim.The accused have been identified by police as Pyare Lal, Mangli Prasad, Mehendra Pal, Bhoora and Umesh Chandra.Elaborating on the incident, Naithani said, “Twenty years ago, Moti Ram’s three brothers, including the complainant, had been arrested and sent to jail in connection with the killing of one of the relatives of the accused, who hail from the same village.”Naithani further said, “The victim was shot at just below the trachea..
