The petitioners have complained that ‘land sharks’ and powerful groups are making attempts to encroach on the lake by illegally dumping debris and levelling the area. Pattandur Agrahara Residents’ Welfare Association, in their petition, has also sought a direction to the Bangalore Development Authority to put up a fence on the boundary of the lake and provide adequate security to prevent future incidents of illegal dumping of waste material, levelling of ground, encroachments and felling of trees around the lake..
