BENGALURU: Minority welfare and wakfs minister B Z Zameer Ahmad Khan caught his partymen by surprise with a faux pas when he admitted in the legislative council that he is ready for a CBI probe into the Anwar Manipady report on the alleged scam in wakfs properties. Khan attempted to turn the tables by demanding why the BJP did not hand over the case to the CBI when it was in power. Within minutes, Khan retracted his statement. Now too, the BJP can press for a CBI probe since the same party is in power at the Centre.”Caught off guard by this ‘suo motu’ decision, the Congress attempted to cover the lapse by sending subtle hints to the minister that the government is not in favour of such a decision.
