K'taka govt clears suburban rail project

BENGALURU: The Karnataka government on Thursday cleared the much-awaited Rs 23,000-crore suburban railway corridor project and green-lighted a change in alignment of Namma Metro project to provide seamless connectivity to the Kempegowda International Airport. Bengaluru city will have 81 suburban stations with the minimum distance between stations being 2km. The four-corridor project has a total length of 161km, and crisscrosses the city in six directions. The cabinet that met here on Thursday cleared the projects, which seek to ease traffic congestion on the city roads.
