Beat policing to be strengthened in M'luru: DCP

MANGALURU: With a view of creating community-friendly policing, the Mangaluru City police have decided to strengthen the beat system , which according to the police, is already operational in the city limits.Under this system, each police personnel at a given police station will be assigned an area under the respective police station limits. The personnel will deal closely with the people in that area and are responsible for holding a monthly meet involving people from the region.Briefing reporters on the new initiative, DCP (law and order), Hanumantharaya , said the area under each police station’s jurisdiction will be divided proportional to the number of personnel assigned to that station..
