BENGALURU: A 39-year-old man, who was declared brain dead after a fatal accident, has given a new lease of life to at least six people, through cadaver organ donation.Ravi (name changed), a farmer by profession, was brought to Sparsh Super Specialty Hospital in Yeshwanthpur on February 18 at 6.50am after he sustained severe head and leg injuries. At Sparsh, he was admitted in the ICU, but was declared brain dead post evaluation.Ravi's family was counseled and they agreed for organ donation after his death.Ravi's liver, kidneys, lungs, heart valves and corneas were successfully harvested for transplant.The harvested left kidney was transplanted into a 12-year-old girl suffering from a chronic kidney disease at Sparsh while his liver was received by another male patient in the same hospital.The lungs have been absorbed by an elderly patient at BGS Global Hospitals, while his right kidney was donated to a senior citizen at Sagar Hospitals..
