MANGALURU: Panambur based Coast Guard District Headquarters (DHQ) 3 Karnataka authorities responded to a distress call raised by fishing boat Emmanual Kunhappa, some 46-nautical miles of Karwar on Wednesday.The DHQ authorities received the message from District Disaster Management Authority in Kannur that the fishing boat with 11 crew on-board had encountered engine failure and was drifting in the sea.The Coast Guard regional headquarters (RHQ) and DHQ-3 immediately responded to the distress call and Coast Guard station Karwar deployed C-420 for search and rescue and technical support.RHQ West also diverted one motor tanker operating in the area to the aid of the stricken fishing boat..
