After rows of Lockdown, Karnataka to ease curbs after June 21

CM BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday indicated that the government is likely to ease curbs in the state after 21 June.

Looking over at the infection rate in the state, the government will then decide on easing the curbs. 

Amid the surge in Covid cases, the state government was consistent in imposing lockdown.

Districts like  Chikmagalur, Shivamogga, Davangere, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Belagavi and Kodagu were in complete lockdown. 

However, in the remaining 19 districts, Karnataka has announced certain relaxations which include the opening of parks and industrial units with riders, extending the duration of shops selling essential goods till 2 pm, permission for autos and taxis to ply with a maximum of two passengers. 

The decline in Covid active daily cases, as Bangalore for the first time records less than 1K cases in a long time has added weight on easing the curbs. 

According to the report, For the first time in nearly three months, Bengaluru recorded less than 1,000 new COVID-19 cases with 985 cases being reported on June 15.

This accounted for just less than 20% of the 5,041 cases recorded in Karnataka on the day.
