Bengaluru | Tuesday | 28th June, 2016

Summary:

A volunteer of the wildlife crime control bureau rescued a purple heron from a dead snake which had coiled itself around the bird’s neck. Soon after the snake was removed, the bird collapsed for a few minutes before flying away. In an effort to wriggle out the snake circled around the neck of the heron and died later. Unable to get out of the grip, the bird moved around the lake the whole night and was exhausted, Prasanna Kumar said. The bird might have tried to catch the snake and the latter got stuck in the long sharp beak of the heron..
