Notably, at that time, four policemen— two Head Constables and two Constables — were admitted to a private de-addiction centre here. Even the then Muktsar SSP, Kuldeep Chahal, had claimed that there were some addicts in the police force. These addicted cops had made startling revelations that nearly 80 per cent of the cops were addicted to one or the other drug and demanded that some test of cops should be conducted so that the truth comes out. A Constable during his treatment at a de-addiction centre had said, “I got hooked to the contraband after I tasted the seized drugs in curiosity..
