MCB tightens noose around water, property tax defaulters

Around 50 per cent consumers are the ones who are paying the water and sewerage bills after repeated attempts of the MCB. The corporation had issued notices to those who had not paid property tax for a long time. The civic body had started a drive against the defaulters of commercial tax in the city, as a result of which a large number of people paid their commercial property tax. MCB Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill said, “We have intensified the process of recovering the pending property tax and sewerage and water bills and issued 2,400 notices to the property tax defaulters..
