Summary:

The District Pollution Control Board, which was maintaining silence on the rising pollution level, on Tuesday challaned 48 farmers for stubble burning. During the flag march, the police were carrying banners, telling the farmers that burning stubble is an illegal act and necessary action will be taken against those who burn stubble. Therefore, the flag march was a symbolic move to restore their faith,” said a senior police officer. To check stubble burning, the government has authorised all DCs to appoint gazetted officers, posted in their districts and drawing the grade pay of Rs 5,000 and above, as executive magistrate. “These special executive magistrates will maintain law and order for the situation created due to stubble burning till December 15,” read the orders, received by the DC office on Tuesday..
