Ad drivers could not furnish bills/bilty for the products, officials impounded all four vehicles and imposed a penalty of Rs82.25 lakh. A senior official privy to the raid said the department had received the information that tobacco products would be transported from Delhi to four districts in the state. “Upon receiving these inputs, we laid a trap and intercepted four trucks laden with tobacco and chewable tobacco, including pan masala. They could produce invoices of different dealers but they did not have bills for the tobacco products being carried by them,” said the official..
