HC notice to Uma Bharti on Digvijaya’s plea

Bhopal: A single-judge bench of Madhya Pradesh high court (MPHC) on Wednesday issued notice to Union minister Uma Bharti in response to a petition filed by senior Congress leader Digvjjaya Singh. Ajay Gupta appeared in the case on behalf of Singh. The single-judge bench of Justice S K Palo on Wednesday issued notice to Bharti in response to Digvjjaya’s petition.Digvjjaya had filed a defamation suit against Bharti when she as chief ministerial candidate of the BJP in 2013 state assembly election had accused then chief minister Digvijaya Singh of a Rs 1500 crore scam during his decade-long tenure.The defamation suit is still pending in the trial court, but Digvijaya moved the HC after his application for permission to cross-examine Bharti was rejected by the trial court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) on September 29 last year.The case would now come up for hearing four week later..
