MP to export soybean to China, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan tells PM Modi

BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at New Delhi on Thursday and said Madhya Pradesh can export soybean to China to meet that country's shortfall following trade tensions with the US.Chouhan told the Prime Minister that China needs 11.5 crore metric tonne soybean whereas production is a mere 1.5 MT. The CM also met foreign affairs minister Sushma Swaraj in connection with export of soybean.Chouhan invited Modi to the concluding ceremony of Jan Ashirvad Yatra on the birth anniversary of Pt. Madhya Pradesh, as a soybean growing state, can take advantage of this trade opportunity and it will increase earnings of farmers all over the country, he added. He also met commerce minister Suresh Prabhu. Chouhan held discussion on various issues with the CMs of Bihar and Gujarat through video conferencing.The CM met finance minister Piyush Goyal and told him that the state has not got its share of GST on time..
