MP: Inferior quality grains in PDS of 8 districts, says survey

Twenty-six per cent of the beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) in these districts claimed they were receiving inferior quality grains , the survey found.The survey further claimed that the mid-day meals in 109 schools were not serving items prescribed on the menu, while 18 per cent schoolchildren were not getting the mid-day meals regularly. BHOPAL: At a daylong convention of people’s organisations here on Tuesday a survey report covering issues like PDS , food served in mid-day meal schemes and anganwadis was released.The survey was conducted by Madhya Pradesh Lok Sajha Manch—a network of NGOs working on children’s issues—in Damoh, Rewa, Satna, Jabalpur, Mandla, Chhatarpur, Shahdol and Shivpuri districts.
