Bhopal | Sunday | 13th January, 2019

Summary:

Same condition followed in August 2018 when only 50% of the consumers paid their bills and in September 2018 only 52% paid their bills.Sources said now the consumers are unwilling to pay even Rs 200 per month pushing the discoms to red. Like on an average if only 60% people paid their bills in a particular district, before the scheme, the payment pattern of the beneficiaries that are covered under the scheme from that district still remains at 60%. Both the schemes came into effect from July 1. Under the Saral Bijli Bill scheme, consumers from unorganized sector are required to pay Rs 200 per month for power consumption from July 2018 onwards.that had to be paid by the consumers was Rs 47 crore, but only Rs 25 crore was recovered, i.e., only 54% of the registered consumers paid their bills. The total billing for these consumers at Rs 200 per month, accounted for Rs 102 crore in October, but only Rs 49 crore or roughly around 48% money was recovered, i.e., 52% did not pay the bills. And this has been the overall ratio since the inception of the scheme in the month of July 2018..
