Madhya Pradesh: No horses this R-Day after Glanders scare

BHOPAL: Horses won’t be allowed in the Republic Day parade in the state capital this year after 10th case of highly infectious Glanders disease surfaced in a horse here in Bhopal. All horses in the state capital would be tested for Glanders and provided a certificate, confirming that the equine does not suffer from the disease.Despite the scare, horse riding at Boat Club area and horses at weddings continues uninterrupted. Dr Rai reiterated that no horses used by the police force have been found or suspected to be suffering from Glanders. The last case of Glanders was reported in December and the animal was culled..
