10-member panel to monitor CBSE-affiliated private schools

The committee will also look into matters such as substance abuse, cleanliness in the premises, basic education, academic monitoring along with practical lab facilities in schools.Starting from April 1, the committee will undertake random inspections in private CBSE schools of the district. BHOPAL: The directorate of public instruction formed a ten-member committee to look into the working of private schools in the state on Friday.The ten-member committee constituted under Bhopal commissioner Kalpana Shrivastava will see whether the schools are abiding by the bylaws laid down by the Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE ). These issues were frequently highlighted by the media, too”, said Shrivastava.“Keeping all these factors in mind, we decided to form this committee to look into the matter and ensure that schools are following CBSE by-laws”, Shrivastava added. The inspections will go on till April 15 and will ensure that the schools are adhering to rules laid down by the board, including the usage of NCERT books in the curriculum. The committee will also curb schools from setting shops selling uniforms and bags in the school premises.“We got a lot of complaints from parents about expensive schoolbooks, extra books that were carried by children, fee issues, bookshops inside school premises and some schools violating various CBSE guidelines..
