Year before assembly elections, Cong defeats ruling BJP in Chitrakoot

Bhopal | Sunday | 12th November, 2017

Summary:

The entire government machinery was deployed by the ruling party in the seat but people voted for the Congress party. BHOPAL: In a major embarrassment for the ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh , Congress on Sunday retained the Chitrakoot assembly seat in a bypoll with a margin of 14,833 votes. Whether 2003 or 2013, Chitrakoot went to the Congress party, but BJP still formed government in the state with a huge majority. For bypolls, Congress and BJP both fielded greenhorns who had not contested an assembly or Lok Sabha election before. So it would not be fair to link this bypoll result to the next assembly elections..
