"How can a 45-year-old man compete with a 25-year-old youth", the guest teachers argued.Officials said that the guest teachers would approach court as soon as MPPSC issues recruitment advertisement. Currently, on an average, a guest teacher gets around Rs 12,000 per month. But they added that they would do everything possible to prevent the recruitment process from getting halted.Meanwhile, the government is considering to appoint guest teachers for three years and to double their honorariums to Rs 25,000 per month. The state government's proposal to double the amount would be at par with UGC, as per Sixth Pay Commission.Similarly, a guest teacher is appointed for a term of 11 months. "A proposal has been sent to the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) to start the recruitment process," said an official of the higher education department. But the recruitment process faces opposition from over 4,000 guest teachers in the state, who have staked their claim to the available posts. The government has decided to give additional 20 marks to the guest teachers appearing for the vacancy exams..
