Agriculture students hit streets for jobs

"Agriculture graduates are not getting jobs in the sector despite having good qualification. More than 1,200 agriculture graduates are unemployed though many have cleared national-level competitive examinations," said Abhisek Tripathy , state coordinator of All India Agriculture Students Association , which is leading the protest.The students demanded that the state government conduct regular recruitments in the state. BHUBANESWAR: Agriculture students on Monday protested against the delay in filling vacant posts in the agriculture sector.They sought the filling of 800 base-level posts - including those of assistant agriculture officer, assistant horticulture officer and other allied services - which have been lying vacant for years. The total number of posts should be increased," Tripathy added.The students proposed that the state government conduct a common written test for agriculture and allied services. They also met government officials on Monday but the talks were inconclusive..
