Odisha government requests Kerala to provide food to floodaffected Odia people

BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Friday urged the special relief commissioner (SRC), Kerala to provide minimum assistance like food and water to some 130 people from Odisha taking shelter at a flood ravaged place in the southernmost state.State SRC Bishnupada Sethi, in a letter to his Kerala counterpart PH Kurian, said the people from Odisha have taken shelter in a house at Aluva Munnar Road, Odapally, Near Asha Munnar Post Office in Kerala.Based on an SOS message from one Anil Sethi, the SRC said the Odia people were not able to get food and drinking water for immediate sustenance.“I would, therefore, request you to kindly make necessary arrangement for providing support in terms of food, drinking water and other necessities to the above-mentioned flood affected people of Odisha,” Sethi wrote in his letter.When contacted, Anil, a resident from Konark in Puri district, urged both the state governments at Kerala and Odisha to take steps to rescue them from the flood-ravaged area..
