Summary:

Remuneration goes to each of the servitors’ family, irrespective of the number of priests each household sends to the temple. BHUBANESWAR: The Jagannath temple administration in Puri is planning to remove several of the servitors as it feels there are too many of them, which in turn is giving rise to chaos and indiscipline in the shrine. “We are neither bearing additional financial burden due to increase in number of servitors nor will we save money by limiting their numbers. As per temple records, at least 2,200 servitors render various services throughout the year. We will install three more so that people can donate directly to the temple,” Mohapatra added..
