BeMC to fine those who allow spread of dengue

BERHAMPUR: In an effort to check the spread of dengue, the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) has decided to levy a hefty fine on those who allow water to stagnate in the surroundings of their homes, thereby creating a favourable condition for the breeding of aedes aegypti mosquito , the carrier of the dreaded disease. He, however, claimed there has been no casualty so far on account of dengue. The collector has instructed us and we will finalise the modalities,” the commissioner added.Of the 143 dengue cases reported in Ganjam, 54 are indigenous and 89 pertain to migration, district malaria officer R Jagadeesh Patnaik said. “This system will arrest the breeding of mosquitoes,” Rathore said.
