Three students barred from entering college for ‘indiscipline’

“We are keeping a close watch on the situation,” Sushant Kumar Sahu, inspector in-charge, Gopalpur police station, said. In view of the situation, police rushed to the college. The hostel has around 80 students.“The exact reason behind the incident is yet to be known,” a faculty member of the college said.The principal, however, ruled out the possibility of ragging. He said, “Since the victims and accused students are from the same batch but different streams, there was no question of ragging.”Meanwhile, tension gripped the campus as several students sat on a dharna outside the college demanding action against the trio and seeking greater security for themselves. They had also allegedly threatened them with dire consequences and demanded Rs 10,000 in cash from each at gunpoint.On being informed about the incident, the principal and other staff members had rushed to the hostel on the same night and assured the students of stringent action against the trio..
