Odisha: Dinner facility in Aahar centres near hospitals from January

BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday directed authorities to provide night meals to people in 54 Aahar centres set up near hospitals in various urban areas.The decision has been taken to facilitate food to people attending their relatives undergoing treatment in various hospitals at an affordable price. The donations will be received through online and it will be fully tax free. With these centre, the number of beneficiaries per day will be increased to one lakh.The state government also encouraged people to donate to continue the scheme. The dinner facility will start from January, next year.Launched in April 2015, the noon-meal scheme aims to provide cooked rice and dalma at Rs 5 at places of public congregations in the urban areas.As Aahar centres have been opened in 76 urban areas in the state, Naveen said more centres will be set up in the remaining 32 urban local bodies from coming January 26..
