Odisha Lawyers demand state to table Advocate Protection Bill in assembly

BHUBANESWAR: Members of the All Odisha Lawyers’ Association on Sunday said they will pass a resolution to urge the state government for introduction of Advocate Protection Bill in the state assembly.The lawyers will pass the resolution during its two-day long 47th annual conference to be started from December 29. “We want the government to table the bill before the assembly and pass it positively. “Though the state government has completed appointment for the State Law Commission, it is not functioning till date. Experts will discuss on challenges in legal profession and legal education in the sessions during the conference. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik , judges from Supreme Court and high courts and legal luminaries will attend it.Association president Gyanaranjan Mohanty said the bill is important for the lawyers in view of the rising attack on them..
