Government approves water projects worth Rs 2600 crore

BHUBANESWAR: Few months before the polls, the cabinet on Friday approved four mega lift irrigation (LI) projects and two rural piped water supply projects worth Rs 2,600 crore.While the drinking water projects would benefit around six lakh people in rural areas in six blocks of Nabarangpur and Boudh districts, the LI projects would irrigate more than 50,000 hectares of poorly irrigated areas in nine districts.“The state government aims to provide safe drinking water to every household. Out of this, 67 projects have already been completed and have created irrigation facilities in more than 77,000 hectares.
